Coffee In(n) Motion ;
[a self-sustainable portable coffee kiosk]
Collaborator: Claire Gaspin
The Tiny Coffee House is conceived as an Urban Furniture, designed according to human measurement. Defined by a 60cm x 60cm grid, the kiosk envelope opens on 3 different levels to create both seating, a coffee bar, and individual charging booths with outlets.
The “Inn” aspect of the project title suggests that the kiosk creates a natural anchor and landmark for people to feel welcome in the city. The kiosk can be both a quick grab-and-go spot or a destination for people to stay and chat and charge their electronics.
The cube shaped object presents 4 faces oriented for the dynamic shutters to operate and be inviting to the public from any direction. At night, the kiosk is retracted and LED underlights the orthogonal lines of the panelling as well as the brand name through the perforated envelope. During the day, the object becomes a living organism that folds and unfolds according to the weather condition and the customers uses.
