The L.A.W.N. ;
[Lounge, Act, Work, Nap]

The programming of a public space is often left untold and unspecified, much like in the case of a quadrangle, where the user defines the programming depending on the situation: weather, amount of people, so on and so forth. With that said, certain themes tend to arise based on the four major themes outlined in our proposal: lounge, act, work, and nap. The lounge chairs are for the passer by who needs a rest and perhaps a read, or maybe they just need to lie down and scroll through their Instagram or Facebook for a bit. The ‘act’ portion of The L.A.W.N. addresses the need for people to interact with others through action - not necessarily with Frisbees, but mini-golf for that guy who just needs to find his stroke again, the chess table for the intellectuals still searching for their inner Bobby Fisher, and a Jumbo Jenga set (placed appropriately at the front of The L.A.W.N.) to draw people’s attention – and in a room full of architects, who can resist a turn in Jenga?
